10.95x8.97x4.74mm | 1 Piece | 2.81 Carats Total | Oval Shape
Moonstone is transparent labradorite, a closely related feldspar mineral with sheen in a variety of iridescent colors. Although it’s technically not moonstone, it’s similar enough that the trade has accepted it as a gem in its own right. Today some people prefer it to traditional moonstone.
Moonstone’s delicate beauty and its long-established heritage make it perhaps the most familiar gem-quality member of the feldspar group.
When light falls between these thin, flat layers, it scatters in many directions, producing the phenomenon called adularescence. Adularescence is the light that appears to billow across a gemstone, giving its surface a glowing appearance.
Perhaps the most captivating aspect of adularescence is its appearance of motion. The misty light seems to roll across the gem’s surface as you change the viewing angle.
Non Calibrated Goods
A calibrated gemstone is one that has been cut to fit standard size commercial gemstone jewelry mountings and settings. Examples are 7x5 mm oval shape gemstones, or a 6 mm round shape gem. Non-Calibrated gemstones are not cut to exact measurements, but they are cut to sizes that most standard size mountings can accommodate.
